Andrea Barausse

Energywise is a well established Esco with an excellent performance record averaging 96% over 15 projects according to M&V reports. I believe we have respect from the M&V teams we have worked with and could contribute to the M&V council. We have no representation in KZN which should be addressed, in light of the large industrial base in this area.

Energywise began as the brain child of Andrea Barausse in early 2004. Andrea had been at the forefront of South Africa’s lighting industry for more than two decades when he decided to throw himself wholeheartedly into energy conservation. Energywise specializes in auditing and refurbishing some of the country’s largest businesses.

The idea was to create ‘Virtual Power Stations’ by freeing up excessive power used by large industry in lighting only. Energywise has made available in excess of 7 Megawatts of power every hour within the national grid.

Energywise in joint venture with Magnet Electrical, soon became a leader in South Africa’s energy conservation industry and in 2008 the companies’ hard work paid off with two awards, namely the Eta Award and the SAEE Award for “Best Esco”, as well as an award to Andrea himself for best technical paper at the 2008 lighting congress of Southern Africa.

Andrea Barausse has gained the name as a man with an intimate knowledge of the lighting industry and the ability to (with his skilled team of specialists) bring about tailored energy saving solutions. Of the 15 successfully completed projects to date, an overall 97% percent average of accuracy in predicted savings has been achieved.
